Profile of the Interfaculty Programme for the Study of Religion

religionswissenschaft

The Study of Religion is concerned with religious traditions, concepts and patterns of action in an interdisciplinary and cultural studies approach. In addition to well-known religions, its focus lies on various cultural manifestations of "world views" and orientation patterns, their origins and histories.

In order to define their role in history and culture, the Study of Religion combines specialist knowledge on religions with a variety of methodical perspectives.

Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich is the only German university to have implemented a cross- and inter-faculty programme (major and minor subject) as of the winter semester 1998/99.
